This book was inspired by the process of erosion. As you begin flipping through the pages a tiny whole emerges and slowly transforms into a larger negative void. Moving through the book various forms are uncovered and then gradually lost until the void is lost completely, similarly to the experience of walking through a cave.
THE PROCESS:
First a positive form was molded using clay and then 3-D scanned to get the form converted to the computer. Next the 3DS Max software was used to slice through the form at 1/16th inch intervals and laid out on sheets. Finally the slices were laid out on individual sheets of paper and cut using an electronic cutting tool.
