Historic District Home
Located in a historic district that has all of the elements of a typical New England colonial settlement with its narrow streets and tightly packed housing and storefronts this residence was situated on a small lot with limited opportunities for expansion. Over the years it underwent many modifications that left it with an uninviting and confusing entry sequence and inefficient and awkward layout designed for a single-family, but broken into two units. The project included removing the enclosed, existing porch with its screen door that served as the front entrance and extending the front facade of the home about seven feet and rebuilding it with the same window locations. This small addition allows for a new front door entry to be built at basement street level, small garage, first floor powder room, and second floor primary suite addressing many issues that had been created with past renovations.
